Silicon-barium inoculant is a block metallurgical material made by blending silicon powder and barium powder according to the required proportion and then smelting steel in a high-temperature furnace. It is an additive in the casting process of the foundry. It has the characteristics of promoting graphitization, reducing the tendency of white cast iron, improving the morphology and distribution of graphite, increasing the number of eutectic groups, and refining the matrix structure. It has a good effect in a short time after inoculation (about 5-8 minutes).
Long-term inoculant is mainly used for the inoculation of ductile iron and gray cast iron molten iron. Barium inoculant strongly increases the graphitization core, refines graphite, promotes type A graphite in gray cast iron, and improves strength. For ductile iron, it can make the graphite in ductile iron refined and rounded, and improve the spheroidization grade. It has strong anti-recession ability and prevents the accompanying spheroidization recession. It has low wall thickness sensitivity and uniform structure. It significantly reduces the tendency of white spots, reduces relative hardness, improves the machinability of castings, and is used as an inoculant and spheroidizer in the cast iron industry.
