Silicon carbide, which is smelted at high temperatures through a resistance furnace, has a good deoxidation effect, forms slag early, has a strong reducing atmosphere, and has the function of deoxidation, increasing silicon and carbon. Since the price of ferro silicon has always been relatively high, using silicon carbide instead of ferro silicon for deoxidation and silicon addition is also a feasible option.

 

Silicon carbide has high hardness, which makes it perform exceptionally well in grinding and cutting fields. It has stable chemical properties, can maintain its own nature in complex chemical environments, and is not prone to chemical reactions. It has a high thermal conductivity and can transfer heat quickly. This characteristic is very important in some occasions with high requirements for heat dissipation. A small coefficient of thermal expansion means that under conditions of significant temperature changes, its dimensional changes are relatively small, ensuring the stability of the product. It has good wear resistance and can withstand long-term friction and wear, thus extending its service life.

High-temperature smelting: Raw materials such as quartz sand, petroleum coke, and silica are mixed in precise proportions and then added to a resistance furnace for high-temperature smelting. Under the effect of high temperature, the raw materials undergo complex chemical reactions and eventually form silicon carbide blocks.

 

Crushing: Due to the high hardness and large size of silicon carbide blocks, it is difficult for ordinary crushers to crush it. Therefore, a jaw crusher is first used for coarse crushing to initially break the larger silicon carbide blocks into smaller particles.

 

Fine crushing: After coarse crushing, silicon carbide needs to be further crushed. At this time, a cone crusher is used for fine crushing. The cone crusher can crush silicon carbide into particles of various specifications to meet different application requirements.

 

Screening: The finely crushed silicon carbide is screened by particle size. Through screens of different pore sizes, it is screened into silicon carbide sand of different particle sizes. This can ensure that the particle size of the product is uniform and the quality is stable.

 

Grinding (when processing micro-powder) : If processing silicon carbide micro-powder is required, an additional grinding process is needed. The silicon carbide sand is put into the Raymond mill for grinding processing. After grinding, the silicon carbide micro-powder is then sieved into different particle sizes.
